My Thoughts on the Isaiah Likely Touchdown Reversal

I try not to be on twitter/x underneath other people’s posts offering my opinion too often…that’s really the main reason why I keep this platform for myself. I figure if you hate my opinion, but you find your way here and you keep reading anyway, then you’re just an idiot, and you should probably go away. With that in mind, it seems like everyone has an opinion on the Isaiah Likely go-ahead touchdown that was ultimately called back after a booth review, so I figured I would chime in. In a strange way, I don’t think Steelers fans or Ravens fans are going to like my opinion on the matter.

For what it’s worth, when I was watching the game, I thought it was a touchdown. Even after watching the replay and hearing the explanation from Gene Steratore, I still thought it was a touchdown. Having sat with it for a while, I can truly say I can see how that call could’ve gone either way. Since it was called a touchdown on the field, the play probably should’ve stood as it was called, but it wasn’t and it is what it is.I’m not going to lose any sleep over it nor am I going to entertain the thought that the Ravens should’ve won this game and got hosed.

To Ravens fans: if that play occurred ANYWHERE else on the field besides that end zone, you’d be scraping and clawing to have that called incomplete. Also, you should want your guy to finish that play out, complete the action of a catch, and leave no doubts in anyone’s mind. Joey Porter Jr. played all the way through, and look what happened. I feel this way about the Jesse James play that Steelers fans like to bring up as well, although that one actually was a touchdown. The refs got that one wrong but we didn’t get hosed. That’s silly. That’s part of having human refs, which is an element of the game that I think is important. If Jesse James survived the ground (even though he didn’t have to) it would’ve left no doubt in anyone’s mind and the Steelers would’ve won. Finish the fuckin play, ya know? If Likely isn’t in the end zone he would be expected to finish the play. So Ravens fans can sleep with that, and if that makes the L sting worse for them, then my day is better because of it. At the end of the day, the Ravens lost this game, because they’re just not that good of a football team right now, and neither are we for that matter!
